About the role

Fortaegis is a fast-scaling, highly ambitious and cutting-edge semiconductor company. We are looking for an experienced Embedded Linux / Firmware Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll be instrumental in developing robust and secure low-level software for our revolutionary products, from the boot chain up through the kernel. You'll work across the entire development lifecycle, from pre-silicon validation to post-silicon bring-up, ensuring the highest standards of quality and security. We are looking for candidates with not only an exceptional skillset, but also an exceptional mindset, willing to go above and beyond to make our breakthrough product even better.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and debug firmware and low-level system software for ARM Cortex-A based SoCs and their associated peripherals. Develop and maintain Linux kernel code: device drivers, device tree, and platform and bus level integration for new silicon. Implement and execute comprehensive unit testing strategies to ensure code quality and reliability. Actively participate in both pre-silicon and post-silicon validation and bring-up activities, including work on emulation and FPGA prototyping platforms. Collaborate closely with hardware and architecture teams to define specifications, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance. Contribute to the design and implementation of secure firmware features across the software stack. Develop high-quality, well-documented APIs and maintain strong design principles throughout the development process. Work effectively within a collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge and best practices. Develop and integrate the TCP/IP networking stack on the kernel side, including network device drivers and packet datapath work.

What you'll bring

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in firmware and embedded software development, with a strong focus on embedded systems. Proven expertise with ARM Cortex-A processors and their peripherals. Hands-on Linux kernel development experience: writing and debugging device drivers, working with device tree, and diagnosing issues in kernel space. Demonstrable experience with firmware unit testing and involvement in pre-silicon and post-silicon development phases. Solid understanding of good API and design skills for robust and maintainable code. Experience with the TCP/IP stack in a kernel or embedded context, covering sockets, network drivers, and performance tuning Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of working effectively with hardware, architecture, and cross-functional teams. Bonus Points Prior experience or strong understanding of security concepts in embedded systems. Experience with security-focused kernel development, such as kernel hardening, LSM or other kernel security frameworks, or trusted execution environments. Experience working with cryptographic accelerators and integrating them into software, including kernel crypto API drivers. Deeper Linux kernel work beyond drivers, for example in memory management, DMA, networking, or crypto subsystems.

What's on offer

The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to participate in shaping the design of our groundbreaking product, contributing to the development of ultra-secure and high-performance SoC designs. They will be part of a dynamic and innovative team, working in a collaborative and challenging environment at the forefront of the semiconductor technology.
