About the role
Esomar is looking for a hands-on Finance Lead responsible for Esomar’s financial accounting & control, managing a small team across AP and AR.
As a Lead Financial Controller, you will ensure accurate financial accounting and reporting, strong controls, efficient finance operations and compliance with statutory, tax and audit requirements.
You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and providing clear financial insight for decision-making.
This is a working manager role focused on delivery, operational excellence and financial governance.
A key responsibility for you as Lead Financial Controller will be to further develop and embed the newly implemented accounting system (Accounting Seed) across the organization. While the system migration has successfully replicated existing processes, the role will be accountable for identifying improvement opportunities, implementing best-practice finance processes, and driving greater efficiency, automation, and control throughout the finance function.

What you'll do
Financial Reporting & Control
* Own monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process. * Prepare management accounts, financial reports, and performance analysis for the CEO and internal Leadership team. * Provide both reactive reports on request and proactive insights on trends, risks, opportunities, and variances. * Ensure integrity of balance sheet, P&L, cash flow and financial data.
Governance, Compliance & Audit
* Maintain internal controls, finance policies, and documentation. * Ensure compliance with accounting, statutory, and tax requirements. * Lead audit preparation and manage auditors and external advisors.
Finance Operations, Payroll & Systems
* Oversee AP, AR, invoicing, collections, supplier payments, and cash flow. * Own payroll validation, reconciliation and payments; HR owns employee administration and payroll inputs. * Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and financial risk/opportunity tracking. * Improve finance processes, automation and reporting, including Accounting Seed and Salesforce-connected tools. * Lead and support the finance operations team with clear accountability and service levels.
**Your profile and qualifications**
* Fully qualified accountant (RA, AA, ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent). * Minimum 7 years’ experience in financial accounting, control or finance management. * Strong experience with month-end/year-end close, reporting, audits, controls and governance. * Able to lead a small team while remaining hands-on and operational. * Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills. * Preferred: international, membership association, NGO or professional services experience; Salesforce-connected finance platforms; organisational change or digital transformation. * Fluency in Dutch and English.
