Role description: Arcadis is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our semiconductor sector. This individual will be an integral part of the engineering design group and work with other designers, engineers, and clients to develop designs and solutions with limited direction, in support of complex projects and matters related to Instrumentation & Controls design for manufacturing and construction industry projects. You will possess strong familiarity with mathematical and engineering principles and methods used to design systems on client projects for life science, biopharmaceutical, and/or semiconductor facilities. Proven success working for an A/E or EPCM consulting company in a similar role, supporting projects related to cleanrooms, laboratories, semiconductor fab, data center, solar manufacturing, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industries is highly desirable. Role accountabilities: Act as an I&C Engineer on small to large, complex projects, including semiconductor, tool install, and high-tech facilities. Lead and coordinate small teams of engineers/designers and collaborate with project managers, clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams. Develop and review P&IDs, sequences of operation, control narratives, instrument data sheets, I/O lists, panel layouts, loop diagrams, and single-line/control schematics. Specify instrumentation and control systems for process, utility, and safety applications, including TGMS and related gas monitoring systems. Support controls engineering involving PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI, MES interfaces, and industrial communications. Produce and review 2D/3D design documentation and participate in coordination and clash detection efforts. Perform QA/QC reviews and prepare engineering studies, reports, and system documentation. Support construction and commissioning, including RFIs, submittals, field changes, testing, site walks, and record drawings. Conduct site surveys to verify existing conditions. Execute work within scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements. Other duties as assigned Qualifications & Experience: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical, Controls, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline. 35+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering/design. Experience with semiconductor, tool install, high-tech/process utility, or specialty gas systems preferred. Experience with Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (TGMS) and gas detection systems strongly preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of NEC, IBC, and applicable industry codes/standards preferred. Ability to lead small teams, work across disciplines, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, initiative, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Interest in obtaining professional licensure is highly desired and supported. Ability to provide legal US work authorization documents required. Will consider US domestic travelers and relocation. Why Arcadis?
