Open role
Senior Deal Structurer
Return Storage B.V.
About the role
The Revenue & Growth Transactions team is responsible for ensuring that all commercial efforts (Origination, Growth and Virtual Platform) are seamlessly connected and aligned to be ready for the next stage of Return’s growth.
As Senior Deal Structurer, you will be a key member of our Revenue & Growth Transactions team, taking end-to-end ownership over the structuring of (predominantly) our BESS origination deals. On top of your core focus on origination, you will on occasion also be involved in structuring Return's M&A acquisitions of new projects, supporting the growth of our pipeline.
During Revenue & Growth transactions, you will work closely with our origination, finance and project teams to make sure our offtake deals are commercially sound, properly risk-allocated and bankable from day one. You will play a critical role in setting the framework within which Return structures, negotiates and closes complex, high-value transactions that are at the core of Return’s business.
What you'll do
Being responsible to structure and negotiate BESS offtake agreements, translating commercial objectives into workable, bankable deal structures
Identify, allocate and mitigate risks across our deals, working with origination, finance and technical teams to reach balanced risk profiles
Ensure our deals meet the requirements of project finance and equity funding structures, acting as a bridge between commercial ambition and bankability
Support Return's M&A transactions on an occasional basis, including structuring input for the acquisition of new projects
Act as a connecting link between business development, legal, finance and project teams throughout the deal lifecycle, from origination to financial close
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Return's deal structuring approach, templates and playbooks as the growth pipeline scales
What you'll bring
At least 5 years of relevant experience in deal structuring, commercial/legal transaction work and/or M&A, gained at utility, trader, developer or comparable organization serving international clients
Strong commercial acumen combined with an affinity for contractual (and legal) detail
Experience structuring commercial deals and assessing risk in complex transactions - experience with offtake agreements, M&A and (project) financings are highly preferable
Experience with infrastructure or renewable energy, in particular BESS, is a strong plus
Affinity with the energy-regulatory in (one or more) of our markets is a plus
Fluent in English with excellent negotiation skills (and preferably drafting experience), capable of operating in an international environment
Natural leadership and self-initiative, with strong stakeholder management and the ability to take ownership of complex transactions from start to close
Willingness to travel within Europe occasionally to negotiate our deals
Not ticking all boxes? Do not let that put you off from applying if you can argue that you have the skills to master this position regardless.
What we offer you
The opportunity to be at the center of the growth of our business, structuring the deals that make it possible
An exciting and challenging job in a future-oriented and dynamic company
Collaboration in an entrepreneurial company that actively contributes to the energy transition
An attractive workplace, entrepreneurial and committed team with flat hierarchies and steep learning curves
Flexible working hours and home office options, laptop/telephone arrangements and performance-related compensation
What's on offer
At Return, we don't just talk about impact — we build it. You'll join a passionate and skilled team where your contributions help shape real-world solutions and directly support a more sustainable future. Our entrepreneurial and collaborative culture is dedicated to accelerating the energy transition at scale.
