1st Backhoe Operator

THE POSITION As a 1st Backhoe Operator, you operate the backhoe and make sure the work on board is carried out safely and properly. You keep the equipment in good condition and make sure the operation follows the agreed procedures. Together with the Barge Master, you look for ways to keep production safe and efficient. You guide the crew during operations and keep an overview on deck. You also make sure maintenance, and repairs are carried out properly. YOUR IMPACT With your experience, you help keep the backhoe running and the work moving. You work accurately and keep safety and the environment in mind. You support your colleagues during operations and share your knowledge on board. You also make sure the administration is up to date. Your main tasks include: Operating the backhoe and ensuring safe operations Guiding and supporting the crew during operations Coordinating maintenance and repairs on deck and safety equipment Working with the Barge Master to keep production running smoothly Keeping safety, environmental and vessel administration up to date YOUR WORKPLACE You work on board on a backoe dredger with colleagues from different countries. Together, you make sure the work is carried out safely and properly. Depending on the project, you work on an offshore or dredging vessel. You work according to a rotation schedule of 5 weeks on and 5 weeks off.

You have experience with a backhoe and know what it takes to work safely on board. You like to get things done, take responsibility and know when to act. You work well with others and keep a clear head when circumstances change. You also bring: Experience as a 2nd Backhoe Operator Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems Experience with heavy equipment and heavy loads Certificates according to the Van Oord Operational Requirement Matrix
