Medior Redacteur/Creative
Makmende Media B.V.
About the role
Full-time Medior Redacteur/Creative WE’RE LOOKING FOR A MEDIOR CREATIVE STORYTELLER – SOCIAL, FILM & CONTENT Social-first content, campaigns & impact investing Freelance or temporary contract ·3–6 months · 30–40 hours per week · Start date to be agreed (ideally October or latest early November)
We’re looking for a medior Creative / Storyteller (3+ years) who combines strong editorial skills with commercial thinking and a social-first mindset. You understand how storytelling connects a brand, its audience and its wider purpose. You can turn briefs into creative concepts that capture attention and deliver on communication objectives. You think beyond individual pieces of content, developing social-first concepts, recurring formats and platform-specific campaigns that feel native to each channel rather than simply repurposing existing material. You can move between films, short-form video, branded content and campaigns, making subjects such as impact finance and social entrepreneurship accessible without losing their substance. And you can take ideas from concept to execution: presenting them to clients, developing them collaboratively and translating them into scripts, treatments and clear briefs for filmmakers, photographers, editors and other creatives.
What you'll do
Develop creative ideas for social content, campaigns, branded content and films. Bring a social-first perspective to our storytelling, thinking about how ideas can work across different platforms, formats and audiences. Find interesting human stories and creative angles within topics such as impact investing, entrepreneurship, climate and social change. Research subjects, speak to experts and contributors, and conduct or prepare interviews to uncover the stories behind a brief. Turn research, interviews and complex information into clear, engaging concepts, scripts and treatments. Think visually about how a story should be told; from people and situations to scenes, formats and short-form content. Develop creative presentations and pitch ideas internally and to clients. Work closely with filmmakers, photographers and editors to bring ideas to life. Help shape stories during production and editing, thinking about structure, pacing and what will keep an audience engaged. Experiment with new formats, social trends and ways of telling stories, and bring those ideas into the work we do for our clients.
What you'll bring
You have 3+ years of experience in a creative, strategic or editorial role, whether at an agency, content studio, newsroom or production company. Your title matters less than the quality of your work. You’re a creative storyteller with a strong feel for contemporary culture and social media. You understand what makes people watch, share or engage, but you’re also interested in the deeper craft of storytelling and want to become better at it. You’re curious and like talking to people. You enjoy interviewing, researching and discovering the detail or perspective that turns a subject into a story. Some journalistic experience or instinct is a strong plus. You think visually as well as editorially. You don’t just think about what we need to say, but what we need to see and how an idea could work as a film, reel, short-form series or other social format. You’re comfortable with complex subjects and interested in finding creative ways to make them accessible without dumbing them down. You understand brands and audiences and are interested in how storytelling can help organizations communicate more effectively. You can write clearly in English and Dutch and are comfortable developing concepts, scripts, interview questions and presentations. You’re collaborative, open to feedback and eager to learn. You don’t need to arrive knowing everything about documentary storytelling, impact investing or international development, but you should be curious enough to dive into unfamiliar subjects and develop quickly. Experience with social campaigns, branded content, journalism, film or international productions is a plus. You have an interest in finance, business, impact investing and the stories behind big decisions and a talent for turning complex topics into content people actually want to watch.
What's on offer
A medior role with a clear path to grow into a more independent Creative / Storyteller, taking on more creative and editorial responsibility as you develop. Plenty of room to learn from experienced storytellers, producers and creatives while bringing your own social-first thinking and ideas into the team. A 30-40 hour working week on a freelance basis or a temporary contract of 3-6 months, with the intention to continue if it’s a good match. A home base at A Lab in Amsterdam-Noord, surrounded by filmmakers, designers, musicians and other creative companies, with around 50% of time remote working. Work that changes constantly: one week you might be developing a social format around impact investing, the next interviewing an entrepreneur or helping shape a film being shot in Zambia. International projects for clients ranging from Cartier and the Netherlands Red Cross to impact investors, foundations and financial institutions. Direct collaboration with filmmakers, photographers and other creatives around the world. You’ll get to see how an idea develops from a rough brief into something people actually want to watch. Possibility to travel for events and filming on the ground in Europe, including London, Munich and Paris. Real responsibility from the start. We don’t expect you to know everything yet, but we do expect you to be curious, contribute ideas and gradually take ownership of your own projects. How to apply Send us your CV and, most importantly, examples of work that show how you think, develop concepts and tell stories. We’re interested in more than just the final result. We’d love to understand your role, the choices you made and how you turned a brief or complex subject into a creative concept or compelling piece of work. Show us campaigns, branded content, social media work, films, documentaries or other productions. Concept presentations, scripts, treatments and formats are welcome too. Email your application to [email protected] , for the attention of Wietske. Questions? Call us on Wednesdays between 09:00 and 12:00 at +31-204231644

Our clients include corporate foundations, NGOs, international organizations and impact investors, including the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, the Cartier Women’s Initiative, Rabo Foundation, Invest International, Stifel and the Netherlands Red Cross. We increasingly work with organizations at the intersection of finance, entrepreneurship and social impact, helping organizations connect their business, brand and purpose to meaningful change. We collaborate with local filmmakers, photographers, journalists and creatives who understand the language, culture and context. From our Amsterdam office, we develop concepts, find stories, write scripts and oversee production. One day we might be making a character-driven documentary in Sudan; the next, interviewing bankers about market developments or creating a campaign for an impact investor. Whatever the format, we tell stories that engage audiences, communicate complex ideas and contribute to our clients’ objectives.
