Open role
Industrialization Engineer
Delft Circuits B.V.
About the role
As an Industrialization Engineer , you help bring our manufacturing processes from “technically working” to “reliable at scale”. The role combines hands-on manufacturing improvement with longer-term scale-up engineering. On one side, you work close to the factory by improving existing processes, tooling, SOPs, workflows and manufacturing support. On the other side, you contribute to larger scale-up projects such as equipment concepts, outsourced tooling or machines, CapEx proposals and preparing the factory for higher volumes. You do not need to fit perfectly on both ends of this spectrum. We are looking for someone who understands manufacturing systems, improves processes in a practical way and knows what is needed to make production more stable, predictable and scalable. In this role, you help shape what our factory needs to become in order to handle higher volumes without depending on heroics, ad-hoc fixes or individual expertise.
What you'll bring
A technical HBO or MSc background, for example in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, industrial engineering, applied physics, manufacturing engineering or a similar field. 2–8 years of experience with manufacturing, tooling, equipment, process improvement, industrialization or scale-up. English is required. Dutch is a plus, especially for day-to-day collaboration with manufacturing colleagues and local suppliers. Bonus points for Lean manufacturing or operational excellence, including Lean Six Sigma, 5S, standard work, value stream mapping or bottleneck analysis. Process improvement and error reduction, including poka-yoke, tooling, fixtures, jigs, operator aids or structured problem solving. Quality and process control, including root cause analysis, FMEA, control plans, SPC, Cp/Cpk or measurement system thinking. Experience with scale-up, equipment specification, supplier management, CapEx preparation or high-tech manufacturing environments. Personal Attributes We are looking for someone with a technical background who likes working close to both production and engineering. You do not need to come from the exact same industry, but you should enjoy improving complex manufacturing processes. We are looking for someone who: Thinks both practically and systematically. You can solve today’s problem, but also think about the structural solution. Is comfortable in an environment where not everything is fully defined or standardized yet. Works well with operators, engineers, suppliers and other teams. Likes being close to the shop floor, while also being able to think about larger scale-up steps. Working Environment This role is strongly connected to our manufacturing and lab environment in Delft. Presence on-site is required. You’ll be working from our headquarters at the Kabeldistrict in Delft, featuring a 1000 m² lab, a workshop, dedicated assembly and testing areas, and a modern office space. Why join Delft Circuits? At Delft Circuits, you’ll have the opportunity to work at the forefront of quantum computing technology, contributing to one of the world’s most exciting and fast-moving industries. About the company
Delft Circuits develops and manufactures Cri/oFlex®, high-performance cabling for quantum computing and other cryogenic applications. We are in a phase where we need to move from technically excellent products to reliable, repeatable and scalable manufacturing. Within the Industrialization and Quality team, we work on improving and scaling our manufacturing environment. The team focuses on industrialization, manufacturing stability, quality, tooling and structural improvement of our factory. Your key responsibilities will include: Process Industrialization Industrialize existing manufacturing processes by improving tooling, fixtures, SOPs, workflows and process controls. Improve yield, throughput and process stability by structurally reducing bottlenecks, variation, rework and operator dependency. Work closely with Manufacturing and Process Development to solve process issues and turn lessons learned into robust production standards. Scale-up Help translate capacity needs into practical solutions for equipment, tooling, automation, layout and ways of working. Contribute to scale-up and CapEx projects by defining technical requirements, expected impact and implementation plans. Examples of projects Depending on your background and experience, you may work on topics such as: Designing or improving holders, cassettes, fixtures and production tools. Reducing manual process steps and operator dependency. Improving SOPs, standard work and training packages. Analysing bottlenecks in the production flow and proposing improvement projects. Applying 5S, poka-yoke, value stream mapping or structured problem solving in the manufacturing environment. Specifying new equipment, tooling or outsourced machine building projects with external suppliers. Translating prototype or in-house solutions into more industrial and scalable solutions. What this role is not This is not a pure R&D role and not a classic project management role. You will not mainly develop new processes from scratch. Your focus is to make existing and released processes more reliable, repeatable and scalable. It is also not a role where you only write specifications from behind a desk. You will work close to the factory, the people, the tooling and the daily reality of manufacturing.
