Open role
Robotics Software Engineer
SpectX B.V.
About the role
As a Robotics Software Engineer at SpectX, you will: Develop, maintain, and optimize ROS2-based software for autonomous drone platforms. Develop software interface for hardware such as sensors (LiDAR, RGB-D cameras, X-ray, etc.) and flight controllers. Work on novel navigation and control features for our autonomy flight stack. Test your features in simulation environments and hardware-in-the-loop tests. Participate in flight tests sessions and support data analysis and issue handling. Document interfaces, architectures, and workflows for reusability across projects.
What you'll bring
MSc in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering (or related field). Strong experience with ROS2 (C++ and/or Python), preferably in real-world robotic applications. Hands-on experience with autonomous robots or drones. Prior experience with open source autopilot software (PX4, Ardupilot, etc.). Proficiency with Linux development and version control (Git). Experience with simulation environments (Gazebo, AirSim, etc.) and testing pipelines. Problem-solving mindset, able to work in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
Nice to have
Good understanding of sensor fusion, mapping and path planning algorithms and real-time perception. Experience with swarm robotics, mission planning tools, multi-agent coordination, or secure communication frameworks. Exposure to embedded platforms such as Nvidia Jetson boards. Knowledge of sensor integration (LiDAR, cameras, GNSS).
What's on offer
The chance to work on cutting-edge drone and sensing technologies with real-world impact in sectors such as offshore wind energy, infrastructure and mobility A dynamic, collaborative environment where rapid prototyping meets rigorous testing. Opportunities for growth in both technical expertise and systems-level engineering. Contribute to a mission-driven team shaping the future of cooperative inspection robots.
About the company
