Mechanical / Shipbuilding Engineer | ZH | Marine | English speaking possible

You are responsible for basic engineering and partly for detailed engineering (as part of the detailed engineering is outsourced); You are responsible for reviewing technical information and documentation from suppliers, such as mechanical drawings, schematics, and calculations; You are responsible for close collaboration with project managers, procurement, and production to enhance integration between disciplines; You are responsible for actively contributing to the optimization of work processes and the development of efficient workflows within the engineering department; You are responsible for being regularly present at the shipyard, where you can witness the vessel’s progress from design to delivery; You are responsible for preparing technical work lists for repair projects in consultation with the captain or vessel owner.

You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a comparable field; You have at least 3 years of relevant work experience in shipbuilding, maritime technology, or a related industry; You have experience in preparing technical specifications and developing detailed engineering; You are eager to learn, hands-on, and enjoy working in a team where colleagues support one another; You have strong communication skills and can effectively coordinate between engineering, production, and project management; Experience with Cadmatic, Nupas, or Inventor is considered an advantage; You have a good command of the English language.

For a leading maritime organization in the Rotterdam region , we are looking for a Mechanical / Naval Engineer . This is a permanent position with our client. This maritime company has a rich history and is known for its craftsmanship in the construction, completion, and engineering of a wide range of vessel types. From river cruise ships and tankers to inland vessels and ferries, the organization delivers tailor-made solutions for various national and international clients and also has its own repair department. In some projects, the hull is supplied by the client, after which the team handles the full outfitting and commissioning. Engineering plays a central role within the organization, with a strong focus on river cruise vessels, this is where the main design and development activities take place. For other vessel types, such as tankers, the emphasis lies on integrating various technical systems in close cooperation with the project leaders. The shipyard employs around fifty permanent staff members, supported by a flexible team of technical specialists. The team works closely together in an open and collaborative environment with short communication lines.
