Test Engineer II
Booking.com Distribution B.V.
About the role
We are looking for a proactive Test Engineer II to join our CS SES testing team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will work across cross-functional squads to test Pega workflows from an end-user perspective, with Customer Service agents as your primary focus. You will embed directly into Agile teams to drive risk-based testing, advocate for early testability, and build deterministic automated checks. If you are passionate about combining strong backend/API testing with low-code front-end applications and cutting-edge AI testing methodologies, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on our operations.
What you'll do
Independently execute test design, risk-based testing, and quality practices from initial design to release within cross-functional Agile squads. Guide teams to make features testable early, advocating for isolated verification, shift-left testing, and sustainable root cause analysis. Build and maintain deterministic, fast-feedback test automation for APIs and backend services using tools like Rest Assured, Playwright, or Postman. Test and validate end-to-end Pega customer service workflows from an agent perspective while integrating non-functional checks (performance, accessibility, security, or resiliency). Explore, implement, and test AI features and LLM models within testing workflows (e.g., using Claude Code or similar frameworks). Coach and mentor less experienced test engineers on testing best practices, testability, and continuous quality improvements. Collaborate closely with cross-functional squads and partner teams to communicate quality trade-offs clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
What you'll bring
Strong experience in test design, execution, and test automation across the full software delivery lifecycle in Agile environments. Proven hands-on experience in backend and API testing alongside front-end testing for low-code platforms, Practical experience with relevant test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Rest Assured, Postman). Demonstrated understanding of testing AI/LLM models and practical experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code) to enhance testing practices. Solid understanding of risk-based testing, exploratory testing, non-functional testing, and observability/troubleshooting techniques. Strong coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a dedicated customer and end-user mindset. Familiarity with Pega product architecture and workflows would be good to have.
