Open role
Senior Project Development Manager
Fastned B.V.
About the role
Join Fastned at the forefront of Europe’s electric vehicle and charging infrastructure revolution! We are building a network of 1,000 fast-charging stations across Europe, and we are looking for a Senior Project Development Manager to help us get there. Together with 400+ colleagues from over 40 nationalities, spread across 10 countries, we drive change in the energy transition. What sets us apart is our focus on reliability, sustainability and clean energy. We have been awarded “Best Charging Network” in the UK, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands, further establishing Fastned as a leading player in the field. This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact!
Fastned’s Network Development team finds and secures locations, develops bids and proposals to tenders and supports the growth of our European charging network. As the team and markets grow, we need to continuously improve the way we work across Network Development. The Projects & Excellence team helps Network Development deliver this growth efficiently and effectively across markets. You will join the Projects & Excellence team within Network Development as a Sr Project Development Manager. Your focus will be the “excellence” part of the team, centered around building practical solutions that enable Network Development to improve, scale and deliver more effectively. You will lead complex, cross-functional projects from initial problem definition through to implementation. These projects may involve improving processes, collaboration, tools, ways of working, or decision-making across Network Development. What you’ll be doing What makes this role distinctive is its end-to-end strategic scope: you will anticipate the challenges of scaling Fastned’s network, identify and frame the most important opportunities, develop practical solutions based on that, and lead them through implementation and adoption, rather than handing off strategy, design or change execution to others. Project Management and delivery Lead complex, cross-functional projects which improve quality, efficiency and governance of the work of Network Development and Tender Management. Take projects from initial problem definition and discovery through to solution design, testing, rollout and follow-up. Create clear project plans, milestones, decision points and ownership Work constructively with stakeholders at all levels, create alignment around a shared goal and guide them through the change. Lead the analytical framing of complex bottleneck, growth challenges or efficiency blockers , using data and stakeholder input to assess options, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs, and translate the findings into actionable recommendations and decisions aligned with Fastned’s strategy and Network Development priorities. Building scalable solutions through process and continuous improvement Challenge our current processes like our tender or site validation process and identify bottlenecks, duplication, unclear handovers and avoidable manual work. Design practical improvements, such as new workflows, templates, playbooks, decision frameworks or guidelines. Build a habit of continuous improvement across Network Development, rather than treating each project as a one-off exercise. Additionally, you will also support more junior colleagues in their projects and share your experience, while remaining an individual contributor without formal people-management responsibilities. You will report to the Projects & Excellence Lead in the Network Development and collaborate closely with colleagues across Fastned. The role offers a lot of autonomy and also requires the confidence to ask questions, make decisions and create clarity where there is not yet a defined playbook. What we’re looking for We are looking for someone who combines structured project management with a practical improvement mindset and who enjoys working in our small and highly collaborative Projects & Excellence team. Your track record 6+ years of experience leading complex cross-functional projects from problem definition through to hands-on implementation. Proven experience in excellence topics like improving business processes, ways of working or operating models. You know how to translate an unclear problem into a structured approach, involving the right stakeholders and delivering a practical solution. As we are in a scale-up phase, you are comfortable working in an environment where priorities change and the answer is not always known from the start. You are comfortable working with data and your analytical understanding helps you to read data, identify patterns, assess options and turn data into decisions. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Open for regular travel within Europe to support the business locally when needed.
What you'll bring
You bring along extensive experience in high growth environments and a deep affinity with strategy and business processes. You excel in managing complex projects and ideally have knowledge in the field of sustainability and/or public tendering. You are a strategic thinker and you manage to motivate the people around you to deliver for success.
At least 6 years of relevant experience in project development, business development, strategy, programme management, business transformation, operational excellence or a related field. Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing business strategies, taking complex initiatives from problem definition through implementation, stakeholder alignment and measurable results Experience leading process improvement, operational excellence, business transformation or ways-of-working initiatives is a strong advantage, particularly in a high-growth or international environment. A strong commercial and problem-solving mindset A sharp analytical mind - you enjoy digging into complex, multi-market problems to understand what actually drives a result, and know how to turn that into a recommendation that sticks Clear and structured communicator, both in writing and in person - you know how to tailor your message to your audience Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and willingness to dive into both strategy and execution. Fluent in English, both written and spoken Open for regular travel within Europe Highly motivated by accelerating the energy transition.
