As a Preclinical Imaging Application Specialist, you will work at the intersection of science, technology and innovation. You will help researchers translate complex biomedical research questions into effective imaging strategies and reliable experimental results. Your primary area of focus will be MRI, complemented by ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging. No two days are the same. You will advise researchers on the possibilities and optimal use of imaging technologies, develop and optimise imaging protocols, and train researchers to use advanced imaging equipment independently. For more complex studies, you will provide hands-on experimental support or perform specialised measurements yourself. You will also contribute to the processing, quantification and interpretation of imaging data. Experience in data analysis and/or image processing is therefore a strong advantage. You are more than a technical specialist: as a knowledgeable partner to researchers, you directly contribute to the quality of their research. Together with colleagues and expert users, you will develop new imaging methods and applications and contribute to training, education and knowledge sharing. Through AMIE’s leading role within AMICE, the large-scale scientific research infrastructure, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to broader developments in preclinical imaging. Work environment Work environment At Erasmus MC, Core Facilities are an essential part of the scientific research infrastructure, providing researchers with access to advanced technologies and specialised expertise. The AMIE Core Facility (Applied Molecular Imaging Erasmus MC) is the platform and Centre of expertise for preclinical imaging at Erasmus MC. AMIE combines a broad range of advanced and complementary imaging technologies with specialized expertise and close collaboration with researchers and expert users. AMIE also plays a leading role within AMICE, the large-scale scientific research infrastructure that brings together expertise, technology and innovation in imaging. In this role, AMIE contributes to the development and application of advanced and multimodal imaging and helps make this expertise and infrastructure widely accessible to the research community. As an Application Specialist, you will work in an environment where high-quality research support, technological innovation and scientific collaboration are closely connected. You will join a small, multidisciplinary team of five professionals with strong backgrounds in biomedical research: three Application Specialists, a Head of Innovation, and a Head of Operations & Daily Management. The team also works closely with expert users and researchers from a wide range of disciplines. Qualifications and skills Qualifications and skills You are a PhD-qualified professional who enjoys working at the intersection of advanced imaging technology and biomedical research and is motivated by supporting and guiding researchers. PhD in Biomedical Sciences, (Bio)Physics, Medical Imaging, or a comparable relevant field, with the required Article 9 qualification for working with laboratory animals. Experience with MRI and/or other imaging technologies, with the ambition to further develop expertise in MRI, ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging. Ability to advise researchers on the practical application of imaging technologies and support them in designing, optimising and conducting imaging experiments. Enthusiasm for collaborating with researchers from different backgrounds and sharing expertise through advice, training and education. Affinity with data analysis and image processing, applicable to the processing and analysis of imaging data and the development of new applications. Before you apply please check our conditions for employment . Terms of employment Terms of employment A 1-year contract with the prospect of a permanent position. The gross monthly salary between € 3,724 and € 5,867 (salary scale 10) based on a full-time workweek of 36 hours. It's possible to work 4 x 9 hours. Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and an individual travel expense package.
