We are looking for a System Engineer to work at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands. You will be responsible for providing system engineering support in relation to ESA in-house activities for EuroQCI (European Quantum Communication Infrastructure) Entrusted Tasks.
What you'll bring
The following skills and experience are mandatory: Master’s Degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Similar technical field. At least 5 years of experience in Space Ground/Segment system engineering activities. Understanding of Space/Ground segment architecture & Interface Management. Knowledge of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) principles and Optical Communications. Experience in System Architecture definition and Trade-off Analysis. Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment. Solution-oriented mindset, with customer-focused communication skills. Ability to travel on missions when required occasionally. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. The following skills and experience would be highly desirable: Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Why should you apply? Tasks and activities The scope of work shall include the following activities: Supporting system engineering activities for EuroQCI, including requirements definition and system architecture. Contributing to the design of quantum communication systems and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technologies across Space, Ground, and User Segments. Supporting system integration activities and interface management. Participating in technical trade-offs and performance assessments. Activities may include: Satellite and Constellation engineering. Functional and physical architecture definition. Interface definition. Verification and validation planning. Technical risk assessment.
