Platform Engineer / Cloud Platform Engineer – Multi-Cloud
IQ Staffing B.V.
About the role
Platform Engineer — Kubernetes & Multi-Cloud Orchestration
Greenfield, and genuinely so. A newly formed team is building a cloud-native orchestration platform from the ground up, and you'd be one of the engineers deciding what it looks like. The job is to build the layer other engineering teams deploy onto — reliable, secure, self-service — rather than to ship workloads yourself. Kubernetes, automation and platform design, with the architectural decisions still open.
The environment
Our client is a large financial organisation with a substantial internal engineering population, and this platform is being built for those teams to run their workloads on. The team is new, which is the appeal: standards around scalability, security and monitoring are being defined now, not inherited.
You'll work across cloud environments rather than inside one, alongside architects and other platform teams. It's an enterprise setting with real stakeholder complexity and real regulatory weight — the platform has to be defensible as well as fast.
What you'll do
Build and evolve a new orchestration environment for internal engineering teams.
Work hands-on with Kubernetes and cloud-native platform technologies.
Help design and implement a multi-cloud setup.
Automate deployment, provisioning and operational processes.
Build out CI/CD and orchestration capabilities that teams can rely on.
Help set the standards for scalability, security, monitoring and reliability.
Shape a self-service platform experience, so teams can move without raising tickets.
Collaborate with architects, platform teams and the engineers who'll use what you build.
Tech stack
Core: Kubernetes · containers & orchestration · CI/CD · Infrastructure as Code · multi-cloud
Also in the mix: Terraform · Helm · ArgoCD / Flux · GitOps · Docker · Prometheus · Grafana · Azure, AWS and/or GCP
What you'll bring
Must-haves
Experience as a platform engineer, cloud engineer, DevOps engineer, SRE or Kubernetes engineer.
Strong hands-on Kubernetes — running it, not just deploying to it.
Production experience with orchestration or container platforms.
CI/CD, automation and Infrastructure as Code as everyday tools.
A working grasp of cloud-native architecture: networking, security and monitoring.
The ability to operate in an enterprise environment with a lot of stakeholders, and the communication skills to keep that from slowing you down.
Nice to have
Hands-on Azure, AWS and/or GCP experience, ideally more than one.
Building internal developer platforms or self-service tooling.
Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, Flux, GitOps, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana.
A background in banking or another large-scale enterprise environment.
You'll enjoy this if building for other engineers appeals to you more than building for end users, and if an unfinished platform reads as opportunity rather than risk.
Good to know
A pre-employment screening is part of the process — standard for the financial sector.
Working language is English; Dutch is not required.
You'll need a valid EU work permit or existing right to work in the Netherlands.
