FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a User Researcher to work with our global systems integrator client, supporting a number of high-profile discovery initiatives across a large-scale business transformation programme. You will play a key role in helping delivery teams understand user needs, shape service improvements, and ensure evidence-based decision-making throughout the discovery phase. This is initially a 4-month assignment starting as soon as possible, with a predominantly remote, UK-based working arrangement and occasional travel to client sites in Bristol, Blackpool, or a client office location for workshops and stakeholder engagement activities. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced User Research professional who enjoys hands-on delivery, working within multidisciplinary teams, and influencing the design and delivery of user-centred services. All candidates must hold or be eligible to go through SC clearance prior to starting in the role.

We are seeking a User Researcher to plan, conduct, and communicate user research activities across multiple discovery projects. You will work closely with Delivery Managers, Business Analysts, Designers, Product stakeholders, and technical teams to develop a deep understanding of user behaviours, needs, and pain points. The role is delivery-focused, supporting discovery teams in generating actionable insights that influence service design, business decisions, and future delivery roadmaps. You will be responsible for selecting appropriate research methods, engaging with users and stakeholders, and ensuring findings are clearly documented and communicated. You will operate as part of a wider User-Centred Design (UCD) team, contributing to a collaborative and evidence-led approach to service improvement.

Proven experience working as a User Researcher within a digital, technology, or transformation environment Strong understanding of User-Centred Design (UCD) principles and methodologies Experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative user research Ability to plan, execute, and analyse research activities independently Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience presenting research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences Ability to synthesise complex information into practical insights and recommendations Experience working within Agile delivery environments Self-directed and delivery-focused, able to manage workload independently
