About the role
Azure Support Engineer: Data Platform
Support work for an audience that knows exactly what it is talking about. Data engineers and analytics teams depend on an Azure data platform to do their jobs, and you are the one who keeps them moving: provisioning their environments, sorting out access, deploying their pipelines, and working out what broke when something does.
You are not building data solutions, and you are not designing the platform. You run and support it, and you are the technical link between the platform and its internal users. Done well, that is engineering work rather than ticket triage: the questions you get are specific, and the answers usually require you to dig.
The environment
Our client is a large financial organisation. You would join the team responsible for onboarding and supporting internal users of its Azure-based data and analytics environment, which teams across the organisation rely on.
The team owns the reliability, usability and adoption of the platform's services. Because it is a regulated setting, access management and traceability are part of the daily work rather than a separate compliance exercise.
What you'll do
Provision, configure and support Azure data environments for data engineering teams.
Deploy and maintain pipelines and platform configurations.
Handle incidents, questions and access requests from technical users.
Guide teams through onboarding onto the platform.
Troubleshoot across Azure services, deployment pipelines and platform components.
Help improve the reliability and usability of the platform's services.
Write documentation and guidance that keeps the same question from coming back.
Tech stack
Core: Microsoft Azure · Azure DevOps CI/CD · deployment pipelines · access and identity management
Also in the mix: Azure Data Factory · Databricks · storage accounts · monitoring and diagnostics · Infrastructure as Code
