About the role

Apply to HSE Advisor Rotterdam Area Contracting For one of our clients with leading projects within the offshore renewable wind industry and the oil & gas industry, we are looking for a HSE Advisor. In this role, you are comfortable working with procedures, standards and regulations, but you also understand that safety has to work in practice. You are visible on the work floor, talk easily with colleagues at all levels and are not afraid to speak up when you see something that can be improved. What will you do? As HSE Advisor, you play an important role in maintaining and further improving safety within our organisation and projects. You advise colleagues and management, identify risks and help translate HSE requirements into practical solutions that work in our day-to-day operations. You work closely with colleagues in the office as well as with our production teams and contractors on the yard. This means you will not spend your days behind a desk: being present in the workplace, understanding what is happening and engaging with the people doing the work are essential parts of the role. Your responsibilities include: · Advising management, project teams and colleagues on HSE-related matters, both proactively and on request. · Being regularly present on the work floor and supporting teams in applying HSE requirements in practice. · Identifying unsafe situations, risks and improvement opportunities and following up on them. · Carrying out workplace inspections, safety observations and audits. · Supporting and contributing to risk assessments, LMRA processes, toolbox meetings and other safety initiatives. · Investigating incidents and near misses and helping translate lessons learned into practical improvements. · Supporting projects in meeting applicable legislation, client requirements, industry standards and internal HSE procedures. · Contributing to the continuous improvement of our safety management system and safety culture. · Working closely with production, project management, engineering, quality and other departments. · Supporting employees and contractors in understanding and taking ownership of safe working practices. Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone who is confident in their expertise but remains approachable and pragmatic. You are able to give clear advice, whether it has been requested or not, and you feel comfortable challenging colleagues when necessary. At the same time, you understand the reality of a complex technical and production environment. You know when procedures are essential, but you are also able to look beyond the paperwork and find solutions that are both safe and workable. You bring: · An MVK (Middelbare Veiligheidskunde) qualification or equivalent. · Several years of relevant experience in an HSE or safety role. · Experience within the offshore, metal, heavy construction, energy, process or chemical industry. · Knowledge of relevant HSE legislation, industry standards and safety requirements. · Preferably experience with offshore projects and the standards and working practices common within the offshore industry. · The ability to work independently, take initiative and follow through on actions. · Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with people at all levels of the organisation. · A practical and solution-oriented mindset. · The ability to switch easily between policy and practice, and between the office and the work floor. · Good command of Dutch and English . Who are you? · You do not wait for someone to ask your opinion when you see an opportunity to improve safety. You step forward, start the conversation and help find a practical solution. · You can discuss requirements with a project manager in the morning and walk the yard with production colleagues in the afternoon. You understand both perspectives and know how to bring them together. · Above all, you believe that good HSE management is not about creating more paperwork. It is about creating a working environment in which people understand the risks, take responsibility and can do their job safely. What our client offers · A challenging role within a leading company in the offshore substation sector. · A pleasant working environment with skilled and experienced colleagues. · The opportunity to contribute to large-scale, sustainable offshore wind projects. · A competitive salary and attractive benefits package in accordance with the Metalektro Collective Labour Agreement, including a 60% employer pension contribution. · 27 vacation days and 13 additional days off. · Development budget available for job-related training.
