Ernst & Young Nederland LLP
About the role
If you have a strong engineering background and want to work directly with clients at the intersection of Finance, Data and Agentic AI, this role is a perfect fit. EY’s Finance Consulting practice is looking for a Senior Consultant: Forward Deployed Engineer. As organizations move toward more intelligent and autonomous ways of working, disconnected systems, fragmented data and limited engineering capacity can prevent them from turning ideas into reliable solutions. Strong data foundations, well-designed integrations and disciplined software delivery are essential for making analytics and AI part of everyday business operations. In this hands-on role, you will work directly with client teams to understand their operations, connect enterprise systems and data, and build solutions that support business decisions and approved workflows. The CFO organization is our initial anchor, covering planning, performance management, financial control, reporting and Treasury, with opportunities extending into Risk and wider business functions. You will take defined problems from discovery through architecture, development, testing, production deployment and operational adoption. Your remit covers both the foundations that make AI reliable and the applications and agents that put those foundations to work. What you will do Understand the business and define the solution Work directly with business users, domain experts and technology teams to understand processes, decisions, controls and operational challenges. Investigate existing systems and data to establish what is happening and where intervention will create value. Translate business needs into solution designs, data requirements, acceptance criteria and measurable outcomes. Use short development cycles and user feedback to validate assumptions and improve the solution. Build and connect enterprise data platforms Develop source-system connections, ingestion pipelines, transformations and governed data models. Build Lakehouse and analytical solutions using Microsoft Fabric, or comparable platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake. Implement reconciliations, data-quality checks and traceability from business outputs back to source records. Contribute to enterprise system implementations, integration design, data migration and validation. Deliver analytics, applications and agentic workflows Build reporting products, analytical tools and applications that support business decisions and operations. Develop agents that use governed data, APIs and enterprise tools to investigate issues, support analysis and execute approved workflows. Integrate solutions with existing ERP, accounting, planning and operational systems. Define agent permissions, evaluation criteria, exception handling and human approval points alongside domain and control owners. Use AI throughout the engineering lifecycle Apply tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and comparable coding agents to development, documentation, test generation and regression analysis. Provide agents with clear specifications, business context, constraints and verifiable acceptance criteria. Review generated code and independently validate results before deployment. Develop repeatable approaches to agent-assisted delivery while maintaining engineering accountability. Deploy, operate and improve Own version control, testing, release preparation, deployment and monitoring. Work with client IT, security and platform teams to meet production requirements. Support adoption, resolve operational issues and improve solutions using evidence and user feedback. Turn successful implementations into reusable connectors, components, control patterns and deployment playbooks.
