About the role
Taking ownership, not waiting around. Substance first, politics second. That’s how we work at Brand New Day, and it’s exactly the mindset we’re looking for in our new Senior IT Internal Auditor. What will you do as a Senior Internal Auditor? You will work at the heart of the organization, where strategy, IT, risk, and execution come together. Together with the Head of Internal Audit, you will continue building a mature, forward-looking audit function that grows alongside Brand New Day. The primary focus of your work will be within the IT domain. You look beyond controls: you see the bigger picture, understand the context, and help the organization demonstrably improve. You independently perform audits and are involved from start to finish—from risk analysis and scoping to reporting and follow-up. As the third line of defense within the three-lines model, you are independent, critical, and highly knowledgeable. You ensure that risks do not simply disappear into reports but are actively discussed and addressed. We value auditors who think along with the business, ask the right questions, and take initiative. No hierarchy, no bureaucracy, just people who understand the substance and want to improve together. Examples of topics you will work on: IT risk management and IT governance Information security, privacy, and data governance Outsourcing, cloud, and third-party risk management IT aspects of regulations and legislation (such as DORA and other financial regulations) Your key activities and responsibilities in bullets: Independently conduct IT-focused audits within a broader audit context (risk management, governance, operations, compliance, and finance). Translate risks and observations into practical, actionable improvement recommendations. Plan, coordinate, and execute audits from preparation through reporting. Act as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders and ensure audits run smoothly. Ensure findings do not remain in reports but are actually addressed and implemented. Actively contribute to the future development of the audit function and introduce innovative ways of working. Above all, serve as an independent and insightful sparring partner who makes risks discussable and drives improvement. You will join a small, ambitious audit team that works closely with the business and maintains direct lines to senior management. At Brand New Day, we are not fans of endless meetings or lengthy reports, we prefer sharp minds who collaborate effectively and get things done. We are a fast-growing organization undergoing continuous change. That growth requires smart professionals who can identify risks while also recognizing opportunities. As a Senior IT Internal Auditor, you will have the freedom and responsibility to help shape that development and make our processes a little better every day. What you’ll receive from us: A pleasant salary between € 5.000 en € 7.500 and pension accrual on top. 25 vacation days + 1 extra day off for celebration! The option to work from home two days per week and a week remote (two weeks for expats). Training budget of €1,000 per year to stay up to date in your field. €25 per month benefit budget for 1,001 fun or useful things (via Alleo).
You are an experienced IT Internal Auditor who works independently, maintains oversight, and easily engages with stakeholders across all levels of the organization. You are critical when necessary but always constructive and focused on improvement. You thrive in a role with significant freedom and responsibility. When you see an opportunity for improvement, you take action—without needing a meeting first. Furthermore: A completed relevant Master’s degree, supplemented by an audit certification (e.g., RE or CISA). At least six years of experience in IT internal audit (experience within a financial institution or a Big Four firm is a plus). Strong knowledge of IT risks, information security, and data management. Solid financial knowledge or experience with banking products. Excellent communication skills: you can be critical while maintaining strong relationships. A proactive, assertive, and independent mindset: you identify opportunities and take ownership. And one more thing: research shows that women and members of underrepresented groups often only apply if they meet 100% of the requirements. Does this sound familiar? If so, we encourage you to apply anyway. We look forward to meeting you! Check out our diversity policy here and read the stories of your future colleagues here!
