Senior Business Controller

Our client is looking for a commercially astute and forward-thinking Senior Business Controller to play a pivotal role in driving financial performance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is an exciting opportunity to act as a strategic partner to the business, combining financial expertise with operational insight to influence decisions and deliver sustainable value. This role is an initial 6 months contract with the intention to extend permanently in an global player organization. Operating within a multinational organisation, you will lead financial planning, cost control, and champion continuous improvement across functions. The role For a multinational manufacturing environment, we are looking for a commercially astute, forward-thinking Senior Business Controller to drive financial performance and support decision-making at leadership level. This is a backfill position (the previous incumbent has left) and requires someone who can step in, take ownership and pull the team forward—hands-on, decisive, and comfortable dealing with resistance. You will operate in an international set-up with alignment towards the US (incl. key stakeholder management). Key responsibilities: Own financial planning & performance; Lead the end-to-end budgeting, forecasting and planning cycle aligned with business strategy; Deliver timely, insightful analysis on financial performance, highlighting risks, opportunities and key drivers; Ensure strong financial visibility for leadership to enable informed decision-making; Drive margin, profitability & cost control; Build and deliver profitability and margin insights; identify value creation opportunities; Evaluate cost structures and performance drivers; challenge deviations and drive corrective actions; Strengthen cost control across the operation and translate insights into measurable improvements; Be a strategic business partner; Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to influence performance and direction; Prepare and present investment proposals and business cases to senior stakeholders; Challenge assumptions and support faster, better, financially sound decisions; Lead reporting, governance & transformation; Own and improve management reporting, KPI analysis and performance reviews (including consolidated views where relevant); Support compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements; contribute to audit readiness; Lead the implementation of new reporting frameworks and best practices, driving continuous improvement and standardisation; Team leadership & coaching; Provide structure, direction and coaching to the controlling team; Bring energy and clarity—this role needs someone who is not a wallflower and can align people to one way of working. What you bring 5+ years of experience as a (Senior) Business Controller / Finance Business Partner (preferably in manufacturing / complex environments); Strong finance foundation with Accounting / Business Process background (incl. AP/AR understanding); Experience in transformation environments (process improvements, reporting, implementations); SAP S/4HANA experience (must); Strong stakeholder management skills; you can influence at all levels and are comfortable making decisions; Fluent English; Dutch is a plus.
