Data Engineer Azure / Databricks

For a large financial organization, we are looking for a Data Engineer to help build a future-proof data ecosystem. Within the Data Services Platform, you will work in an Agile team on a central environment where data can be easily shared, used and managed across the organization and with relevant partners.

You will join an enthusiastic and driven team of Data Engineers and a Product Owner. The culture is open, informal and focused on craftsmanship, customer value, collaboration and enjoyment. Experimentation is encouraged: making mistakes is allowed, as long as you learn from them.

The team works in a hybrid setup. On Mondays and every other Wednesday, the team works together at the office.

As a Data Engineer, you will help support the transition towards a distributed Data Mesh architecture on a new Azure-based technology stack. You will ensure that the right data is available in the right place, at the right time and with the right level of quality.

Your responsibilities will include:

Implementing and maintaining data architecture based on Microsoft Azure and Cloud Native concepts;

Building data platforms, CI/CD pipelines and data pipelines;

Contributing to architectural decisions and proposing improvements where needed, in consultation with the team;

Integrating traditional data suppliers and consumers into end-to-end solutions;

Working with services, streaming data and legacy batch connections, including CSV-based integrations;

Sharing knowledge within the team and helping embed expertise within the organization;

Participating in rotating on-call support during working hours.

You are an entrepreneurial team player who dares to challenge the status quo. You communicate clearly, take ownership and care about building sustainable solutions. You have an eye for lifecycle development and are able to explain technical ideas effectively to colleagues and stakeholders.

You also have:

Excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written;

Experience with Git and building CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps or Azure Pipelines;

Experience with Python, preferably including Object-Oriented Programming and Pytest;

Experience with SQL or PySpark, preferably within Databricks;

Experience building data pipelines using Airflow or Databricks Pipelines;

Experience with Asset Bundles in Databricks;

Azure Fundamentals certification, AZ-900;

Knowledge of and experience with Azure native components, such as Event Hub, Data Lake Storage, Azure Functions and Virtual Networks.

Contract type: secondment;

Freelance candidates are not eligible;
