About the role
An opportunity for a developer to join a leading financial institution in the Netherlands. As a Senior Engineer, you will help define, build and evolve the engineering foundations behind a growing Generative AI platform, delivering secure and reliable cloud-native services that operate at scale.
This position suits a hands-on Python and Azure engineer who combines strong DevOps expertise with technical leadership. You can guide architectural decisions, improve engineering standards and coach colleagues while remaining actively involved in building and operating production solutions.
What you'll do
Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure and reliable GenAI services.
Develop and operate production-grade Python back-end solutions.
Guide technical direction and architectural decisions.
Improve CI/CD, automation, observability and platform reliability.
Shape DevOps and cloud engineering best practices.
Identify technical risks, platform gaps and improvement opportunities.
Coach engineers through pairing, code reviews and technical discussions.
Contribute to quarterly planning and the technical roadmap.
Collaborate with engineering, security, architecture and product stakeholders.
What you'll bring
Proven experience in senior software engineering and DevOps positions.
Strong Python and modern back-end development expertise.
Experience with FastAPI or a comparable framework.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
Advanced CI/CD engineering and automation experience.
Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform and/or Bicep.
Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging and observability.
Demonstrated experience deploying and operating cloud-native solutions in production.
Ability to combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership and coaching.
Experience with GenAI platforms, LLM-based systems, Azure AI, AI governance, identity and access management, Kafka or event-driven architectures is a strong advantage.
