About the role
As a subject matter expert within the OpenShift team, you share responsibility for the lifecycle management of several large-scale OpenShift clusters. You design and implement robust automation solutions, translate operational and security requirements into repeatable platform standards, and support development teams in the efficient and responsible use of the container platform. You work closely with platform engineers, architects, security specialists, and other infrastructure teams.
What will you be doing?
OpenShift Platform Management
Manage, maintain, and optimize multiple large, business-critical Red Hat OpenShift clusters.
Execute and automate installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, capacity management, and recovery procedures.
Monitor and improve platform availability, performance, scalability, security, and compliance.
Analyze and resolve complex incidents and structural platform issues, including root-cause analyses and improvement measures.
Automation and Platform Engineering
Develop and maintain automation using Ansible, scripts, and API integrations for provisioning, configuration, and day-to-day management.
Apply Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code principles to make platform configurations reproducible, auditable, and scalable.
Standardize cluster configurations, operators, policies, templates, and management processes while reducing manual tasks.
DevOps and Integration
Design and manage CI/CD and GitOps processes for the controlled rollout of platform changes and application deployments.
Integrate OpenShift with network, storage, identity, monitoring, logging, and security services.
Support development and operations teams with platform guidelines, onboarding, troubleshooting, and technical standards.
Collaboration and knowledge sharing
Collaborate within the OpenShift team and with architecture, security, network, storage, and application teams.
Act as a subject matter expert on OpenShift, a sparring partner, and a mentor to fellow engineers.
Document and share architectural decisions, runbooks, configurations, standards, and lessons learned.
What do you bring?
Proven senior expertise in Red Hat OpenShift is essential, including the management of multiple large-scale, mission-critical clusters.
At least 5 to 7 years of experience in Linux platform management, automation, container platforms, and DevOps.
In-depth knowledge of OpenShift architecture, Kubernetes, operators, networking, storage, identity & access, monitoring, logging, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Extensive experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ansible, including designing reusable roles, playbooks, and automated management processes.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, Git, and CI/CD or GitOps pipelines.
Strong skills in incident, problem, and capacity management, as well as conducting root-cause analyses within complex platform environments.
You work in an analytical, structured, and hands-on manner, with a strong focus on continuity, security, quality, and automation.
You communicate clearly in Dutch and English and can persuasively explain technical decisions to a wide range of stakeholders.
Nice to have
Red Hat certifications in OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Ansible.
Experience with OpenShift GitOps, Advanced Cluster Management, Advanced Cluster Security, or similar enterprise components.
Knowledge of Terraform and additional scripting languages.
Experience with SolarWinds or similar monitoring and observability solutions.
