About the role

We are looking for a Simulation Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team, contributing to the development of next-generation aerial sensing and energy monitoring systems under two key innovation projects: AIRSIDE: developing an autonomous drone swarm-based visual inspection of wind farms DYNAMIC-SOLARL: focusing on predicting Irradiance and Albedo maps in real-time for solar farm monitoring using autonomous drone swarms. You will design, implement and validate simulation environments that accelerate our R&D process from system-level modelling to sensor performance validation under real-world conditions. Your simulations will directly influence the control strategies, perception algorithms and deployment readiness of our autonomous platforms.

What you'll do

Develop and maintain simulation environments in Gazebo, ROS2 or AirSim (Unreal Engine) for autonomous drone systems and multi-agent scenarios Build physics-based models for drones, sensors (LiDAR, RGBD, IR, solar irradiance sensors) and environmental conditions (wind, turbulence, lighting) Support system-level co-simulation between aerodynamics, control systems and perception modules Simulate energy yield and irradiance prediction for solar farms within the DYNAMIC-SOLAR project Develop digital twin environments for real-time visualisation and validation of mission plans Interface with AI and systems engineers to integrate machine learning pipelines for perception and decision-making Perform Monte Carlo and what-if analyses to assess the reliability, robustness and fault tolerance of autonomous behaviours Generate simulation-based data to support design verification, mission safety cases and regulatory submissions

What you'll bring

MSc in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field Strong experience with robotics simulation tools (Gazebo, AirSim) Proficiency in Python and C++ and familiarity with ROS/ROS2 Experience in physics-based or environmental modelling (aerodynamics, solar radiation, wind dynamics, etc.) Knowledge of control theory, kinematics and multi-agent systems Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate simulation insights into actionable system improvements

What's on offer

Money ofcourse, and a flexible work environment A chance to work at the forefront of aerial robotics and renewable energy innovation An agile, collaborative startup environment with opportunities to lead subprojects Access to test sites, drone labs and offshore validation campaigns
